The BRIGHTS final conference, “Bringing Higher Education towards Sustainability: Green Skills Development and Recognition,” was held in Brussels on October 11, 2024, at the European Parliament’s INFO HUB. It brought together representatives from youth and education organisations to highlight the critical role that green skills play in promoting sustainability in higher education institutions (HEIs).
Salome Dermati, Policy and Research Officer at the European University Foundation, made a significant contribution by introducing the Sustainable Erasmus+ Travel project and some of its initial results, including the interactive repository of green competencies. The presentation aimed to showcase how Erasmus+ can be explored as an opportunity to promote green practices to mobile students by highlighting the benefits of green travel and suggesting actionable measures to enable it.
Alessandra Moretti, MEP and Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health, and Food Safety; Brando Benifei, MEP; Cinta Gonzáles Sentís, Secretary General at the Federation of Young European Green; Caterina Bertolaso from the European Digital SME Alliance; and Arturo Bertoldi, Head of EduIren at IREN, were among the external stakeholders and speakers at the event.
