In August 2025, two major reports were released, directly linked to the objectives of the SET project. Both explore the intersection of sustainable travel, student mobility, and future employability.
The first report, Environmental sustainability in Erasmus+ student mobility: SET survey analysis, presents findings from a European-wide survey of Erasmus+ students. Results reveal that while participants showed strong awareness of the environmental impact of travel choices, many face financial, structural, and logistical barriers to choosing greener options such as trains. The study highlights the need for stronger support and promotion measures from universities to close the gap between awareness and action.
The second report, Green skills and the future of employability: Aligning higher education with labour market trends, examines how the green transition is reshaping skills demand. It concludes that beyond sector-specific technical expertise, transversal competencies such as adaptability, communication, and critical thinking will be equally vital. Higher education institutions have a key role in equipping students with both sets of skills through diverse learning opportunities.
Both reports are freely available under the SET Resources tab.
