SET gets off to a flying start

SET gets off to a flying start

April 30, 2024

The first in-person SC meeting of the Sustainable Erasmus Travel project took place on the 10th and 11th of April in Brussels. In the SET project, the focus is on green travel as a learning experience. We aim to improve students’ opportunities to engage in more environmentally sustainable habits during their mobility and to change their mindset regarding the trip to the mobility destination.

During the very intense two days, we not only discussed the ongoing tasks but also looked ahead to the activities planned for the whole project.

Some focus groups with the students have already taken place, providing valuable input for further activities. The general lesson is that it is still difficult for students to get information about environmentally friendly travel alternatives and that they need to have their professors and peers as role models in terms of responsible attitude.

The analysis of students’ travel data from the participating universities has also started, which will be used to produce reports and visual materials to show the environmental impact of different travel modes.

One of the project’s products will be a platform for students to access information on sustainable travel. As for the digital repository of green soft skills, possible definitions of sustainability competencies were also discussed.
