The SET project represented at the 53rd NORDTEK Conference

June 20, 2025

The 53rd edition of the NORDTEK conference was successfully held in Vilnius, the European Green Capital for 2025. Under the theme of “Green and Digital University Transformation,” more than one hundred representatives from Nordic and Baltic universities, mobility coordinators, academics, student organisations, as well as the business sector attended.

In the “Change management” session, Salome Dermati, Policy and Research Officer at the EUF, delivered a solution-oriented presentation titled “The Green Mobility Revolution” to showcase practical tools and resources for administrative staff, primarily IROs, and student organisations to introduce environmental sustainability in the context of an Erasmus+ mobility abroad.

Participants engaged with several questions on topics, such as the main barriers to sustainable travel (mainly price, long hours and safety), the average percentage of green student mobility (roughly one third of total student mobilities), monitoring of green mobility outside Europe, accessibility to remote regions, and how to identify and overcome greenwashing practices.

The contribution concluded with the message that consistency over perfection, and that environmental sustainability transcends all areas of our lifestyle, not just transportation. Attendees were also challenged to view mobility as a longer, transformative experience that begins way before arrival at the host city. Against this backdrop, the SET consortium launched a student contest for green travellers to receive up to € 625 for their storytelling efforts. The application form is open until June 27th.
