The SET project was proudly represented at the 36th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow, Scotland, in September 2026.
On Thursday morning, we held a highly attended poster session: The green travel revolution: How mobility can shape an environmentally responsible Union of Skills. Salome Dermati (EUF) explored how student mobility is linked with sustainable travel and employability, thanks to the overlap between the skills and attitudes developed through slow travel and the skills most sought after by employers. The poster highlighted the main conclusions of the Dossier on Recognition Mechanisms of Sustainable Travel for European Higher Education Institutions and invited institutions to experiment with different methods, ranging from self-assessment questionnaires and digital badges to diploma supplements and ECTS.

During the roundtable session on Thursday afternoon, Changing tracks: Understanding and guiding sustainable student travel, chaired by Chantal Sistek (Movetia), we engaged participants in a simulation game by stepping into three students’ shoes and following their mobility journey. Drawing on insights from the Sustainable Erasmus+ Travel project and concepts from psychology, we identified key decision points and developed practical measures to promote sustainable travel behaviour. These are saved in Padlet, which includes additional resources for higher education institutions at the bottom of the page.
We also shared a mini session with Eurail at the EAIE Sustainability Hub on “You Learn as You Go: Unlocking the Educational Potential of the Mobility Journey”. As part of the project, we presented findings on the transversal and complementary competencies strengthened through green travel, and discussed how universities can maximise this potential.
