On April 16-19th, the 5th edition of the Erasmus Generation Meeting was celebrated in the port city of Split, Croatia. This year’s programme was developed under the theme of “Port of Mobility, Getaway to Skills” and two pillars: development of competences through volunteering and student-led mobility, and impact and recognition of student engagement. It is the largest student-led conference in Europe, bringing together roughly 1,200 participants from over 120 countries, including 150+ representatives from local, national, and European institutions and other key stakeholders in higher education.
The SET project successfully celebrated its final event, bringing forward the dimension of environmental sustainability and green competencies in mobility:
- 17.04.2026, “It’s not the destination, but the journey that matters”: EG Talk delivered by Carlos Garcia Romero, a SET storyteller who participated in our campaign and travelled green from northern Sweden.
- 17.04.2026, “Engaging participants with SET Board Game” at the ESN International stand in the EXPO area.
- 18.04.2026, “Green Travel: Skill sharing & recognition for students’ mobility”: Ignite session by Leona Weidner, intern at Erasmus by Train.
- 18.04.2026, “Learning by Moving Green: Recognising the Educational Value of Sustainable Mobility”: Panel discussion with Patricia Mielke (ESN), Salome Dermati (EUF), and Leona Weidner (Erasmus by Train).
- 18.04.2026, “The journey as a transformation: Travel green, discover more”: Poster presentation by the SET consortium.
We thank and congratulate the organisers, volunteers, and sponsors who made this event possible. We reiterate our gratitude to the SET partners for their continued support and commitment to the project and to the ambitious endeavour to make the Erasmus+ programme more environmentally friendly.
